IPL is commonly used to treat a number of skin problems because of the nature of the light used, its variable wavelengths and the depth to which the light penetrates the dermis.
The light causes miniscule areas of "damage" within the dermis and this activates the body's own dependable natural defence and repair mechanisms to achieve the effective results.
IPL can be used to treat the following skin conditions.
IPL for Rosacea, Thread Veins and Spider Veins
IPL is successful in treating rosacea, thread veins and spider veins because the heat generated by the pulsed light causes the tiny capilliaries and blood pockets to break up into tiny fragments which are then reabsorbed by the bodies immune system and cleared from the site as waste products. The additional stimulation by the pulsed light also causes the production of collagen and elastin which enhance and quicken the process of repair and rejuvenation.
IPL for Sun Spots and Uneven skin pigmentation
IPL uses various wavelengths of light regulated by a specific filter placed on the head of the machine to target the brown and reddish pigmentation caused by exposure to the sun and general uneven skin pigmentation.
The IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) breaks up the dark pigmentation which over the course of a few days rises to the surface of the skin and flakes off. Whilst IPL is not a one-time only and permanent solution to skin pigmentation issues (because the effect of sun exposure is to permanently damage the cell production in the areas of skin affected) it does provide noticeable results that last for some time.
If you incorporate IPL into your normal skin care and skin rejuvenation regime on a regular basis you can effectively control your skins pigmentation issues ongoing.
